Career Tributes. This type of Hunger Games tribute is the most well known. They come from districts 1-4 where going into the Hunger Games is an honor some of them have even volunteered for the privilege to risk their lives to become a victor. They’re built and sexy (um hai Glimmer, call me?). Typically the career tributes form an alliance at the beginning of the games and hunt the other lil tributes until they are the last group remaining, and then kill each other. This seems like the coolest kind of tribute to be because you get to hang out with your friends, get to have a really cool name (Gloss, Clove), generous sponsors, and a much higher likelihood that you will win the games and get to stay alive.
Fake-Out Tributes. These tributes come from the non-career districts and present themselves as tiny lil babies afraid to go into the games and die. Then, when they get in the games they reveal that they’re actually kind of bad bitches who can bring down their unsuspecting opponents.
Geek Tributes. These are tributes who aren’t buff or good at having social skills but they stick around for a bit because they’re so brainy. The boy from district 3 who sabatoges the ground around the careers food in the 74th Hunger Games falls into this category, obviously as do Beetee and Wiress. Foxface also falls into this category because she doesn’t have any skills or physical strength, she’s just smart enough to stay out of sight and feed off her enemies food.
Dead Tributes. There’s a lot of tributes we know nothing about because they die right away at the “cornucopia bloodbath.” Seems bleak.
Too Cool Tributes. These tributes don’t really care about dying, or at least it seems like it. They’re probably buff enough to be confident, but they don’t team up with the careers. These kind of tributes are unfair because back home in their district probably everyone has a crush on/is jealous of them and can’t wait to see them “get vulns” all over reality tv. Except, too cool people never, ever have to get vulns. They just give a smoldering glare to the camera as they die an honorable and cool death.
